The dressage selection committee of the Swiss Equestrian Federation (SVPS) has announced the dressage squads for 2025.

From the 2025 season, the elite squad will be divided into an A and a B squad. The A squad will include those who are currently in contention for possible participation in championships, while the B squad will include those with the potential to do so in the future. The U25 squad has been expanded with three new talents

Elite team captain Ruth Haas is convinced that progress will be made in the coming season by relying on both the experience of the established pairs and the potential of young talent.

“Swiss dressage is looking forward to the coming season with confidence and motivation. Our approach remains firmly anchored in our proven values, while at the same time we are looking ahead and continuing to develop," said Haas. "On the one hand, we want to specifically promote our experienced pairs at the highest level and, on the other gradually introduce talented young riders and young horses to top-level sport. We are particularly pleased to already have two promising riders from the Swiss Equestrian Top Talents in our squad for 2025. Our long-term goal is to be part of the team at the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, with the next stop being the European Championships in Crozet (FRA) at the end of August."

Heidi Bemelmans, Swiss youth team captain, attaches great importance to good and sound training of horses and riders according to the classical principles.

“Looking back, I am very pleased with the good, long-standing line-up in the pony, children, junior and young rider categories with good and consistent results at international shows and championships," said Heidi. "A great success this year was that three juniors reached the final at the European Championships in Opglabbeek. One rider was in the top 10, which confirms that I am on the right track. The young riders are very grateful for the Swiss Equestrian Talents junior development program, which is an excellent opportunity for optimal preparation for top-level sport.”

The pony and children squad have not been named yet.
