The dressage selection committee of the Swiss Equestrian Federation (SVPS) has announced the dressage squad for 2024.

A new comer to the elite (senior A-squad) is former U25 rider Charlotte Rogerson who represented Switzerland at the 2023 European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeck.

"In addition, three riders were newly appointed to the prospective squad, including experienced athletes such as Melanie Hofmann as well as new faces who have stood out with their good performances this season," the Swiss equestrian federation communicated.

Elite team captain Ruth Haas stated, "there is still the possibility by the end of the year that we can secure a quota place for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, what we put everything into. At the same time, we focus on carefully introducing promising couples to international Grand Prix sport. Accordingly, the season planning for 2024 was determined and several young couples with a lot of potential were appointed to the perspective squad. As before, we will offer regular training to achieve our goals.”

Youth team captain Heidi Bemelmans commented, "I'm looking forward to next season with big challenges again and the goal of being able to travel to the European Championships in the various categories with good results in advance. It is important to me to constantly bring us up to the now high international level and we hope to be able to build on the good results of the previous European Championships."

Despite efforts to improve the level and competitiveness of the Swiss dressage riders by hiring a national team trainer (Oliver Oelrich) in 2020, results over the years have plateaued particularly at senior level.  Bemelmans is thrilled that for the upcoming squad observation trial more than 20 junior riders have entered.

A long-time squad member who is strikingly absent from the 2024 list is  Carl-Lennart Korsch, Renee Stadler and Layla Schmid.
