Derano B, a five-time European Pony Championship participant for Italy, has been sold to the U.K.
Derano B is a 12-year old German Riding Pony by Dornik B out of Guivenere B (by Golden Dancer x ). He is bred by Ludwig Stassen at Gestut Bonniger.
Licensed
The chestnut Derano B was licensed at the 2015 Westfalian pony stallion licensing in Wickrath and also approved for Rhineland.
He did not do a performance test but competed in sport. He has one licensed son, Day of Gold K and 5 offspring registered for sport in Germany.
Sport Career
His sport career began in 2015 under Anne-Kathrin Krahe. The first three years he mainly competed at local shows. In 2016 Nina Maria Quinders and Niia Lotta Korhonen showed him while in 2017 it was Franka Mertens' turn, alternating the ride with Krahe. His first major championship were the 2017 Bundeschampionate, where he finished 8th. Mertens rode him through 2018.
Italian Team Pony
Derano B sold to the Portuguese based Italian Bartz' family and became the ride for Lisa and Salome Bartz.
Lisa premiered the pony at the 2019 CDI Cascais and showed him at CDI's in Granada, Segovia and Hagen before heading to the 2019 European Pony Championships in Strzegom, where they were 13th in the Kur. Lisa competed Derano at two more Europeans: in 2020 to finish 27th in the individual test and in 2021 to land 20th place in the individual test.
As of 2022 Salome took over the ride and showed at CDI's in Cascais, Jerez, Camarma de Esterualas, and Segovia. In 2023 she went full throttle and adter a strong season on the Iberian peninsula she headed to the 2023 European Pony Championships and was 40th in the individual test. This year Derano B competed at his fifth European in Opglabbeek, finishing 41st in the individual test
Sold to the U.K.
Derano B was advertised on the Eurodressage Equimarket and the first person to inquire became the buyer. He has been sold to the Dovey family.
Derano B is intended as schoolmaster for Amelia Dovey, the younger sister of European Children Champion Ella-Grace Dovey.
Amelia began showing nationally in 2020 on the small grey pony Jilly. In 2023 the 13.2 hh Welsh Pony Waxwing Penny Farthing (by Eyarth Beau Geste x Millcroft Royal Lustre) joined the ranks and in 2024 Amelia also began competing the 1";é hh Welsh palomino Pencwarre Butty Bach (by Pencwarre Gran Torino x Cottrell Archimedes). She also gained some mileage on the former British team pony Ode to Shannon and since the summer has been riding the 14.1 hh Welsh mare Caederwen Lady Elinor (by Caederwen Jager Bomb x Gwenllan Brynmor).
The hand-over of the pony takes place on Thursday 5 December at the CDI Aachen Young Stars, where Ella-Grace is competing this weekend.
