Kate Shoemaker Secures Vianne for the Future

U.S. Paralympic team rider Kate Shoemaker has secured her Paris Paralympic horse Vianne for the future. After a loan period, Shoemaker has decided to purchase the mare.

Vianne is an 8-year old American Hanoverian by Vitalis out of Raureif (by Ramiro's Bube x De Niro x Figaro). She is bred by Catherine Haddad-Staller

Hope Beerling

Vianne was reared at Hilltop Farm as a young horse and moved to Haddad's farm in New Jersey at the age of 3 years in 2019, where she was started by her current rider, Hope Beerling of Australia.

The pair won the silver medal at the 2021 U.S. Young Horse Championships in the 5-year old division with an overall score of 8.964 and won the Highest U.S. Bred Horse Award for the division. She was at the time listed as owned by Kimberly Butenhoff.

The duo made its international show debut in 2023 in the 7-year old classes at the CDI Lexington, which they won. They were nominated on the American team for the 2023 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo and landed a 10th place in the 7-year old Finals

Cathrine Dufour

Owned by NorCordia, a horse sales and investment company consisting of Catherine Haddad and Danish Ulrik Clemmensen, Vianne was sent to Cathrine Dufour to be further produced to Grand Prix level and sold.

Dufour won the qualifier for the Danish Young Horse Championships qualifier with 81.415%.

In February 2024 NorCordia handed over the ride to U.S. Paralympian Kate Shoemaker.

The pair made its CPEDI show debut in Doha, Qatar, where they won all three rounds. From there they went to Fontainebleau, Mannheim and Hagen winning 10 out of 12 classes. They were nominated on the U.S. Paralympic team for Paris where the USA won team gold and individually they were 3rd in the freestyle. In the Grand Prix A-test they were fifth with 72.222%.

Shoemaker has now purchased Vianne as her future ride.

"Vianne will be staying with me," Shoemaker told Eurodressage. "I’m so happy! Our relationship has really blossomed with the pressure of Paris behind us and I’m already looking forward to the next championship."

Kate continued, "she is one really special horse; of course I’m totally biased as well. So our next stop will be the Wellington CPEDI next month."
