Edda and Wenzel Schmidt of the Austrian dressage trainer centre Bartlgut lost their stallion Amicelli. Eqwo first reported the news.
Amicelli was a 10-year old Bavarian bred stallion by Aloere out of Tulum (by Legendär II x Coriograf B). He was bred by Georg Hofbauer.
Ulrike Prunthaller
The stallion was developed for sport by Ulrike Prunthaller.
The pair made its international show debut in 2022 at the CDI Ornago in the 7-year old classes, in which they finished third. She also took him to the CDI's in Gössendorf and St. Margarethen that year, winning all four tests.
Prunthaller left Bartlgut at the start of 2023 after having worked there for 20 years. She was replaced by Terhi Stegars, who stayed on for one year and took over the ride. After Stegars left, Amicelli sustained an injury but was excepted to pick up training again in 2025.
Sad Passing
On New Year's day Amicelli suffered from a severe bout of colic and was transported to the equine clinic where he passed from circulatory failure.
According to Kronen Zeitung an autopsy was carried out and it revealed blood in the abdominal cavity. The owner valued the horse at 500,000 euro.
