The Hanoverian licensed breeding stallion Furst Nymphenburg has passed away at his home, Dreamscape Farm, in Canada. He would turn 20 in spring.

Fürst Nymphenburg was by Florencio out of Donner de Nero (by De Niro x Argentinus x Papi's Boy xx). He is bred at Zuchthof Fries.

Hanoverian Licensed

He was first licensed at the 2007 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing, where owner Helmut von Fircks sold a minority share to the Celle State Stud.

Furst Nymphenburg did a 300-day stallion performance test in 2008 in Adelheidsdorf and scored 147.23 for dressage (1st place) and 101.11 for show jumping (10th), finishing first overall with an index of 134.98 points.

Fürst Nymphenburg has stood in Celle the majority of the time, but returned to Gestut Nymphenburg for a period.

Sport Career

He was first trained and competed by Celle's Wolfhard Witte. The pair made its show debut in 2008. They were reserve champions at the 2008 Hanoverian Young Horse Championships in Verden and placed 9th at the 2008 Bundeschampionate.

Furst Nymphenburg then disappeared for almost four years from the show ring, making his return to the arena under Tessa Frank, Gestut Nymphenburg's head rider at the time. The new pair competed at M-level in 2012, moved up to S-level in 2013 and competed in the Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifiers in 2014, finishing 7th in the Finals. In 2015 the pair moved up to developing Grand Prix level but didn't make it to the Louisdor Finals. They did only one show in 2016 and returned in March 2017 for more Intermediaire II level competition.

In 2018 Fürst Nymphenburg became a schoolmaster for junior rider Sina Ellers and competed at several regional shows in north Germany. In 2019 he did two shows with new rider Vanessa-Sarah Hahnrath.

Non-Sale to Spain

At the end of 2019 Von Fircks sold his ownership share to Celle and shortly afterwards in May 2020 Celle sold the stallion to Spain.

With Witte at the 2008 Bundeschampionate
Jorge Elieser of Ganaderia Pueblo Nuevo near Madrid confirmed to Eurodressage that he had bought the stallion and announced its arrival in Spain a few days after the interview, but the entire deal fell through. Furst Nymphenburg was not bought and never went to Spain.

In 2021 he stood up for stud at Celle as usual.

Dreamscape Farm in Canada

Jennifer Travis Arnoldt of Dreamscape Farm in Canada bought Furst Nymphenburg at the end of 2021 from Celle. The stallion joined Sagnol, Spörcken, Rubinio NRW, Finnigan, and Sir Gregory in Langley, BC, in January 2022.

He stood up for stud and catered to a versatile crowd of breedings interested in show jumping and dressage.

"He was well received here and my breeders liked him," Arnoldt told Eurodressage. "He was also great for North America as (his) offspring did everything (jumping, dressage) which is huge here, plus he produced pretty and sweet.

Arnoldt told Eurodressage that Furst Nymphenburg passed away overnight.

"It looked like he laid down and went to sleep, stall barely disturbed," she said. "He was a lovely stallion, sweetest personality we will miss him greatly." She added on social media, "he would suck you in with his beautiful looks, the kindest gentlest eyes you could imagine, he just loved his cuddles. The time we had him was not enough but we are forever thankful for the opportunity to bring him to North America and love him for the 3 years that we had him."

German professional rider Tessa Frank said Furst Numphenburg was her career starting horse. "Everything started with you. You have taught me so much. We have shared so many beautiful moments together with you. You have given us so much and this morning I had to read that you have started your final journey at the age of 20 ! Dear Fürsti, I am so infinitely grateful to you that you paved the way for me in sports and for us you were not only a sports partner but also our "friend"!"
