Emma Jonsson's Gerion Sold to Taiwan

Emma Jonsson's internationally competed Grand Prix horse Gerion has been sold to Asia. Gerion will now compete under the flag of Taiwan.

Gerion is a 14-year old KWPN gelding by Jazz out of Aimee de Jeu (by Don Primero x ). He is bred by C. Reemst in The Netherlands.

Briana Burgess

The gelding first came into the spotlight in 2017 when he sold to Mary Hanna. She allocated the ride on the 6-year old to fellow Australian Briana Burgess.  The pair finished 9th at the 2017 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo.

Hanna ended up never showing Gerion internationally, but put the horse in training with Alena Starr before selling it.

In 2019 the gelding sold to Swedish Emma Jonsson, who owns Saro Stable near Gothenburg. 

The pair first competed nationally. In 2019 Emma and Gerion competed in the Lovsta Future Challenge for Under 25 riders, placing second, and they won the 2020 Swedish Under 25 Championships. In 2021 the pair competed on the Developing GP horse circuit and won the finals. 

Their international show debut was in 2022 in Kristiansand, where they finished second in the Grand Prix with 71.717%. That year they also competed in CDI's in Aalborg, Flyinge, Ermelo, Aarhus and Randbol. They were 7th at the 2022 Swedish Grand Prix Championships

In 2023 they competed at CDI's in Herning, Tolbert, Exloo, Rotterdam and Falsterbo but always stayed shy from Swedish team selection. They finished the year in Waregem and Wroclaw. They won bronze at the 2023 Swedish Grand Prix Championships.

They did three more CDI's in 2024: Gothenburg, Sint-Truiden and Hagen. They won bronze at the 2024 Swedish Grand Prix Championships.

Jonsson has now sold Gerion to Taiwanese rider Linda Chen, who is based in Germany.

A general manager for the Ho Tung Group after studying at Cornell University in the USA, the 50-year old Chen is an amateur dressage rider. She first competed in show jumping rider before switching to dressage. She has obtained the NF Trainer License and Judging License and is member of the FEI Nominations Committee Member - Group VIII.

The liver chestnut changed ownership in October 2024, the month Emma got married. She now goes by her married name Emma Sanderson. She and her husband announced on Instagram they are expecting a baby in January 2025.
