Atterupgaards Daimi Wins 2025 Danish Warmblood Young Horse Championships for 5-Year Olds

Norwegian Selina Solberg Vittinghus and Atterupgaards Daimi became the winners of the Danish Warmblood Championship for 5-year olds held at the 2025 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning on 6 - 9 March 2025.

The Danish warmblood annually hosts its own championships for 5-year olds during the licensing in Herning. Only DWB bred and registered horses are allowed to participate.

The Championship consists of three rounds. Two in which the horses are presented by their own rider; in the first round in pairs of two and in the second round in pairs of three. The top 25 of the highest scoring horses after two rounds were test ridden by a guest judge rider. Daniel Bachmann Andersen returned as guest judge rider and reshuffled the field with his points which did not always agree with the judges' impression in the arena.

The winner of the Championship was Selina Solberg Vittinghus and Kristine Munch Sinding's home bred mare Atterupgaards Daimi (by Springbank II x Bon Bravour). The pair won round 1 scoring 8 for walk, 9.5 for trot and 8.5 for canter. In round 2 they were second with 8 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 8.5 for canter and submission and 9 for general impression. Test rider Daniel Bachmann rewarded the horse with a 10 for rideability and 9.5 for potential. She totalled 913 points for the overall win.

"She is a horse that really wants to work and that you should not push. She walks with a nice swing and lots of action and has a fantastic trot. She is really nice in the hand and has a really nice canter and good balance. She is sensitive and positively attentive. Selina has done a fantastic job, because she really listens to me. It is not that difficult to judge such a horse that does everything right, is so positive and accepts so well. The only slightly negative thing I can point out is that I wish the walk was a little better," Daniel told the audience.

The second place went to Finnish Merita Hagren abord her employer, Andreas Helgstrand's Soulmate Askehaven (by Secret x Don Olymbrio). The pair was sixth in round 1 (7.5 for walk, 8 for trot, 8.5 for canter), fifth in round 2 with 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8 for canter, 8 for submission and 9 for general impression. Daniel scored Soulmate 9 for rideability and 10 for potential.

The bronze medal was for Danish Emma Ahlberg on the interestingly cross-bred Frydenssangs Eye Crusher (by Eye Catcher x Ballet Prince xx). Bred by Julie Birch Vinge and owned by the rider, the pair was second in the first round (9 for walk, 8 for trot, 8.5 for canter), they won round 2 with 9.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 9 for canter, 9 for rideability and 9 for general impression. Daniel had a few things to solve when he was test riding the horse and scored it 8 for rideability and 8.5 for potential.
