German Grand Prix rider Michael Klimke has been elected overall Athlete Representative with the German Equestrian Federation for a four-year term.
The management of the German equestrian federation seems to start 2025 afresh with new representatives elected after the tumultuous year leading to the election of a new president, Martin Richenhagen, in 2024.
The seven equestrian sport disciplines have their own representative within the management structure, called "active members" in Germany. In accordance with their statutes, they elect their "spokespersons " per discipline with one overall spokesperson or representative.
The Münster-based dressage rider and former lawyer Michael Klimke has been elected "overall" “active” spokesperson. He now has a seat and a vote on the Sports and DOKR Board and is a co-opted member of the FN Executive Committee.
In his new position, Michael Klimke succeeds Holger Wulschner. His sister Ingrid Klimke, previously deputy spokesperson for the group of reps, will be replaced in this role by four-in-hand driver René Poensgen from Eschweiler.
The other "active speakers" (athlete representatives) for dressage are:
Dressage (seniors): Helen Langehanenberg (Billerbeck) and as deputy Michael Klimke (Münster)
Dressage (Juniors/U21): Valentina Pistner (Bad Homburg) and as deputy Paul Löcher (Maxdorf)
Para-Dressage : Regine Mispelkamp (Geldern) and as deputy Steffen Zeibig (Arnstorf)
