At an extraordinary FN Members Meeting on 26 November 2024, Martin Richenhagen has been elected the new president of the German Equestrian Federation.

The 72-year old former CEO of Agco/Fendt and a former dressage judge and chef d'equipe is taking over the baton from Hans-Joachim Erbel who stepped down on 11 July 2024 after a tumultuous extraordinary assembly in Warendorf where budget issues were being addressed.

The FN Sports Advisory Board  appointed a search committee of ten people in July to find a new president. Three candidates came forward: Dr. Heinrich Bottermann (68) from Hamminkeln, Hans-Jürgen Meyer (71) from Nottuln, and Prof. Martin Richenhagen (72) from Ostbevern.

The three candidates introduced themselves to the delegates of the general meeting on 10 September 2024 in two internal meetings (sports and breeding/PM). After that, Bottermann dropped out of the running for personal reasons. The Sports Advisory Board held a meeting in Warendorf on 9 October, where a total of 70 people met. Based on a voting system they decided the one candidate allowed to be elected FN president. Their decision fell on Martin Richenhagen.

At today's meeting Richenhagen needed a two-third majority vote to be officially elected president. He got 177 votes in favour.

An interview with Richenhagen on his plans as president can be reach on Züchterforum.
