Germany's number one combination and Olympic silver medal winners, Isabell Werth and Wendy, will not be competing at their first CDI of 2025.

The mare has been withdrawn from the CDI Mannheim, which starts on 2 May 2025.

Isabell Werth and Bolette Wandt's 11-year old Danish warmblood mare Wendy (by Sezuan x Soprano) only became a combination in January 2024 and stormed to the top, winning team gold and individual silver at the Olympics. Their last show was the CDI Stockholm in November 2024 where she finished second twice behind Dufour on Mount St. John Freestyle.

In Mannheim this weekend the pair was to begin its campaign towards German team selection for the 2025 European Championships in Crozet in August. The mare has been withdrawn.

"Unfortunately we have to cancel our start in Mannheim," Werth posted on Instagram. "Wendy de Fontaine surprised us with a swollen right back leg yesterday. It needs some quiet and time now."
