Züchterforum reported that the well known German equestrian center "Massener Heide" of entrepreneur Thomas Wiese will go into an executorial sale on 8 August 2025.
The Unna district court has ruled in the matter.
Troubled Water
Massener Heide was owned by several companies of Thomas Wiese, the former CEO of "ALUnna," an aluminium production company which Wiese sold into Chinese hands in 2017.
The entrepreneur has been in financial troubled waters ever since. It was discovered he financed his luxury private lifestyle with company money. After the sale of his company Wiese remained CEO until he was removed by the Chinese operators in November 2018. The company has since filed a lawsuit against Wiese, alleging that he paid €3.5 million to his temporary employment agency, WB Metallbau, without providing any explanation.
Over the past five years Wiese's situation worsened and German tax investigators began confiscating his privately owned assets, including his company car, a Rolls-Royce. His company was declared bankrupt and also in 2024 he was privately declared bankrupt. A foreclosure auction for Wiese's private property was scheduled in August 2024, but got cancelled.
Massener Heide
Wiese's mega-sized equestrian centre Massener Heide was founded in 2005 after Wiese had bought the land which housed the Reitverein Unna - Süd. He wanted to support his three horse riding daughters, Isabell, Ines and Ilene Wiese. He often sourced his horse stock with horse dealer Heinrich Ramsbrock. At one point stallion Like a Diamond belonged to Massener Heide's horse stock.
Hellwegener Anzeiger reported that Wiese invested 39 million euro in the development of the property. It has been for sale since 2019.
The yard was known as a liked and conveniently accessible show venue where national shows were held, including Bundeschampionate qualifiers and the German Professional Dressage Riders Championships.
The Unna district court stated that the estate comprises two plots of land and a total of 12 buildings, including several residential properties, four indoor arenas, several lunging rings, stable buildings and other farm buildings. It also housed a stallion station.
The market value was set at 12 million euro.
