The KWPN society has announced the horses that are chosen to represent KWPN and The Netherlands at the 2025 World Championships for young dressage horses in Verden on 6 - 10 August 2025.

Selectors Johan Hamminga, Alex van Silfhout and Janine van Twist picked the final team from a short list at the third and last trial held in Delft on 10 June 2025.

Once again a full team of KWPN bred horses has been selected. None of the Friesians made the final cut, but one was named second reserve.

The short listed horses are:

5-year olds

  • Pina Colada (by Governor) with Bart Veeze
  • Roman Empire (by Romanov) with Bart Veeze
  • Pythagoras Wk (by All At Once) with Franka Loos
  • Perfect Rhythm (by Lord Europe) with Kim Noordijk
  • Proud James (by Jameson) with Mette Sejbjerg Jensen
  • Port-au-Prince (by Desperado) with Kirsten Brouwer
    • Reserve 1: Pitch Perfect (by Le Formidable)  - Vai Bruntink
    • Reserve 2: Murk 540 (by Teun 505) - Franka Loos

    • Reserve 1: Most Wanted Nero  (by Morricone) met Leonie Richter
    • Reserve 2: Nashville Sw (by Secret) met Femke de Laat

The KWPN stated that "there is a question raised regarding the participation of youth riders in both championships at the WBFSH and the FEI, (and KWPN is) awaiting their answer. As a result, there could still be shifts in the teams."  This is no different than in 2022 when KWPN stallion Lennox U.S. (Jill Bogers) competed at and European Junior Championships and World Young Horse Championships with five weeks in between.

Tessa Kole, for instance, is nominated for Verden with Nachtwacht but also short listed for the Dutch Team for the 2025 European Junior Riders Championships.
