Twelve colts have been accepted to begin the 2025 KWPN Stallion Performance test in Ermelo. The testing is 21 days during which the stallions are assessed on their gaits, trainability and behaviour.
From 24 to 12
Three saddle presentations preceded the start of the actual testing in order to estimate whether the 3-year old colts are ready for the test as well as allow non-licensed stallions the option to do the test and then go into the licensing track.
At the first presentation 17 of the 33 (!!) accepted 3-year old colts of the 2025 KWPN Stallion Licensing were entered, as well as three 4-year olds. Four further stallions were presented as part of a saddle licensing and one passed.
Autumn Testing
In the end from that group and after the presentations, fifteen stallions were officially entered for the autumn testing (twelve 3-year olds and three 4-year olds). That group of 15 has been reduced to 12 for the testing, which started on 17 November 2025.
The three colts did will not begin the test are Street Art (by Mowgli), who has been invited to the spring 2026 testing, while Solid Rock (by McLaren) and Raece’s (by Jameson) have been asked not to start the test by the committee.
"The stallions that will start the 21-day performance test have been found highly trainable and already shown good development during the three saddle presentations," said licensing committee chair Bart Bax. "We naturally hope that they will continue this progress in the coming weeks under the riders in the performance test. Under the supervision of committee member Johan Hamminga, the riders will start working with the stallions and next Tuesday we will have another official assessment. It is a promising start, with what currently appears to be a strong leading group and a generous middle group. We look forward to seeing how the stallions develop."
