Agnete Holmsted has been named Danish Warmblood Breeder of the Year 2026 at the Danish Warmblood Association's board of representatives meeting in Herning on 18 April 2026.
Holmsted is the owner of breeding farm Søbakkehus and has bred over 100 foals over the past 28 years.
"Her breeding work has been very positively noted both at home and abroad for many years and in both breeding and sport. It is therefore very well deserved that we honor Agnete Holmste as Breeder of the Year 2026," said Vicky Nortvig from the Breeding Management.
As owner of Søbakkehus in North Sealand, Agnete has managed to deliver a long string of talented dressage horses. Breeding that has captivated with conformation and movement potential. She has achieved an impressive collection of breeder medals and awards in Danish warmblood.
Twice she has managed to stand as the breeder of the Mare of the Year. The first time in 2004 with EGRDH Søbakkehus Gaia (by Cape Town S x Loutano). In 2024 it was Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy (by Hesselhøj Down Town) who got the coveted gold medal and the title of mare of the year. Miss Malfoy continued to impress in 2025 where she first won the Danish 4-year-old championship with an impressive 91,714 points. Later in the year, she also achieved the highest point score nationally in the suitability test with 900 points.
The dam of Miss Malfoy is the mare Søbakkehus Maggie (by Sir Donnerhall I x Blue Hors Don Schufro) and she is also the dam of Søbakkehus First Mover.
