Bits 'n Pieces

The very private Finnish Olympian Emma Kanerva dropped a little bomb on social media when she announced that she got married on 16 May 2026. The German based Kanerva said yes to her partner, Nils Teufelt, but did not disclose more info except for a wonderful photo of the two of them in a wedding carriage. To Eurodressage Emma said that she and Nils have been a couple since the start of 2023. "He was not a horsey person but he is getting more and more involved," she added jokingly. Congratulations!

Horses.nl reported that Dutch Grand Prix rider Annemieke van der Horst-Meeus has passed away unexpectedly. She was 66 years old. Annemieke was mom to Dutch dressage rider Dominique d'Hoore-Van der horst and a breeder and dressage rider in her own right. Together with her daughter and son-in-law, Belgian GP rider Brecht d'Hoore, they ran De Wolfshoeve in Huijbergen. She competed her home bred Guinness van de Wolfshoeve (by Don Schufro) at international small tour level.

The Australian young river Abby Weel has acquired the 7-year old Oldenburg bred Escapado (by Escamillo x Bordeaux), who is bred by Andreas Puschmann.  Previously owned by Italian Riccardo Sanavio, the chestnut finished second in the 4-year old challenge that was held during the 2023 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo. The horse then moved to Helgstrand Dressage, where Marianne Helgstrand competed him from September 2025 until March 2026.  Weel's company River Oak purchased the horse and Abby debuted him on 16 - 17 May 2026 in Denmark at MB level to two winning scores of 70%.

Delano Graf and Lisa Breimann in NYC
German dressage rider Lisa Breimann said yes to the proposal for marriage by her boyfriend, Delano Graf. The 30-year old Graf, who is a construction engineer and real estate manager, went down on one knee on the Empire State Building in New York City to ask Breimann to marry him. The 29-year old Lisa competed internationally on Aida Luna (OLD, by Rousseau x Royal Angelo) from junior to Under 25 level between 2015 and 2022.

Horses.nl also reported that Anouk Noordman's internationally competed Grand Prix horse Atze has been sold to the U.S.A. The 16-year old Gelderlander is by Astor out of Beauvilina (by Sander) and bred by G. van Heijst. The chestnut was owned by Noordman in partnership with the breeder.  She showed him at three CDi's in The Netherlands between May 2021 and October 2022 (Exloo and Leeuwarden).
