The Brazilian equestrian federation has announced the team that will represent Brazil at the 2026 World Championships Dressage in Aachen on 11 - 15 August 2026.
Brazil Back with a Team
After missing out on team representation at Grand Prix level for the past eight years, Brazil is able to gain to line-up at least three riders that achieved the MER. Four years ago Brazil selected a team for the 2022 World Championships but only two riders ended up competing in Herning after Pedro Tavares dropped out. In 2018 Brazil had a team in Tryon.
The Latin American country could not get one to the last two Olympics despite qualifying via the Pan Am Games. It sent Joao Marcari Oliva as an individual each time.
Team for Aachen
Four riders achieved their MER to make it to Aachen. The team includes
- Joao Marcari Oliva - Feel Good (WESTF, by Franziskus x Dimension)
- Manuel Rodrigues Tavares de Almeida - Hermes (LUS, by Prico x Noitibo)
- Murilo Augusto Machado - Jorge VO (LUS, by Xama dos Pinhais x Icaro SA)
- Nuno Chaves de Almeida - Noga FC (LUS, by Rubi x Xelif) or Lizarran (LUS, by Zaire x Xaquiro)
As of this year, the Brazilian equestrian federation seems to have have a more concrete long-term plan back in place. Portuguese Daniel Pinto has been hired as the team trainer. In the past Brazil has worked with Mariette Withages, Eric Lette, and Norbert van Laak as official expert advisors.
