After a three-year trial period in which the committee of the stallion performance test would no longer score a stallion but provide a "description" instead the KWPN board of directors has decided to re-introduces scores.
"After extensive consultation within the membership and the various bodies, the General Board has decided that, starting this autumn, points will once again be awarded to the stallions tested in Ermelo," KWPN communicated.
In the autumn of 2024 the system was introduced to describe the performance of the stallion in the testing instead of allocating scores for gaits, temperament, rideability and potential. With the elimination of points, the descriptive reports on the stallions became more detailed, and a bar (block diagram) was introduced, providing a quick overview of a stallion's qualities.
"There is broad support for retaining the block diagram and further strengthening the descriptive report," KWPN explained. "The return of points in the performance test was a theme during the breeders' cafés, the subject was discussed in the KWPN Magazine, and there were several consultations with the Breeding Councils. From various perspectives, it became apparent that many breeders feel the need to award points and would like to see the stallions also evaluated in points."
