In a surprising result in Thursday's International Prix St Georges event at the Sydney CDI***, Rozzie Ryan and Greenoaks Legend were beaten into the runners-up spot by her husband, Heath Ryan, riding Donna Carrera.
Heath Ryan piloted Susie Duddy's nine-year-old mare Donna Carrera to a comfortable win with 66.6 percent. Some out-of-character tension throughout the test saw Greenoaks Legend and Rozzie Ryan forced to settle for second place with 65.7 percent.
Heath Ryan's other ride of the competition was a solid performance on DP Christopher, also owned by Susie Duddy, which gained third place with 64 percent. Recent winner of the Young Rider Challenge in Victoria, Renee Pedretti, rode Sunbury Lodge Thomas beautifully for 63 percent, to finish in fourth place.
New South Wales rider Vickie Robertson and the impressive gelding Northern Invader, gained fifth place with 62.58 percent, followed very closely by Ann Serrao and the ever-so graceful Wisdom in sixth place on 62.5 percent.
Victorian-based rider Kate Foundas on the chestnut gelding Emperor Charlemagne (61.9) and Karin Davis and imported stallion Cairo 869 (61.75) took the final two top eight positions.
The highest placed international rider was Francesca Nicoletti (USA), who rode Neversfelde Kudu (61.25), owned by Maurice and Jane Bruce, into tenth position.
