Royal Happyness became the price highlight of the 42nd Summer Mixed Sales of Oldenburg bred horses in Vechta, Germany, June 9, 2007. The grey gelding by Royal Diamond out of Lady Steinburg/T (Consul x Mahon) sold over the phone for 78,000 euro to an Austrian dressage rider.
The gelding is bred by Petra Rebhan and was owned and presented at auction by Zuchthof Aschen.
The second most expensive horse was the black mare Frasquita. The beautiful black Furst Heinrich x Argentinus x Akzent II mare sold for 30,000 euro to a Spanish syndicate led by Cristina Figueroa Borbón. The same price was achieved by another mare, Frohlinde (by Florencio x Rubinstein x Matcho AA). She sold to Bavaria.
The most expensive brood mare was the State Premium mare Darling (De Niro x Argentinus x Aktuell). She sold for 18,000 euro to Stable Karlowatz in Austria. The most expensive foal was the bay colt Sir Don. Count Hans von Staff-Reitzenstein paid 48,000 euro for this Sandro Hit x Donnerhall offspring. Three other foals sold for more than 30,000 euro each. Ruhm und Ehre (Sir Donnerhall x Castro) sold for 31,000 euro to Austria.
Dressage rider Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, who recently announced her retirement from competition sport, purchased two interesting foals. She bought Feuertaufe (Sir Donnerhall x Royal Diamond) for 31,000 euro and the very interestingly bred Der Teuro (Don Romantix x Wanderer) for 30,000 euro. The latter foal is a full brother to Bundeschampionate winner Der Euro and the auction price highlight foal Der Dollar, both owned by Joan Sims of Highlife Farms in Ocala, Florida.
The average price for a riding horse at this auction was 16,188 euro. Seven of 25 auctioned horses stayed in Germany, the rest sold abroad. Holland purchased seven Oldenburg sport horses. The 32 auctioned foals achieved an average sales price of 11,094 euro, the twelve sold brood mares an average price of 12,183 euro.
