The team championship competition at the 2020 European Children Championship started on Tuesday 11 August 2020 with the first group of riders. Although German Clara Paschertz took a convincing lead in the individual ranking, it was Team Holland that currently has the two highest scores for the nations' ranking.

The 2020 European Children Championships are being hosted at the 2020 European Youth Championships at Stable Unikornis in Pilisjaszfalu, Hungary on 9 - 15 August 2020. The children division kicked off on Sunday and Monday with the mandatory preliminary test as a warm-up. The team medals are decided via the Team Championship test. The riders are divided into two groups, which compete on Tuesday and Wednesday 11 - 12 August 2020.

Germany fielded only a team of three riders to the Championships in Budapest and just one of them rode today. Clara Paschertz and her 7-year old Oldenburg gelding Danubio (by Dante Weltino x Laudabilis were the winners of the preliminary test and again posted a high score that put them at the top of the leaderboard. They were rewarded with 82.384%, getting 73.267% for the technical mark and 91.50% for the quality component (9.3 for seat, 9.0 for aids and precision and 9.3 for general impression). With only one score achieved so far, Germany stands sixth in the provisional ranking.

Veerle Farla and Formidable
The Dutch team has collected 155.051 points so far for the Nations' ranking, the highest of all countries with two riders having competing today.

The Netherlands put in a strong effort with Veerle Farla and her 10-year old KWPN gelding Formidable (by Tango x Purioso) capturing a provisional second place with 78.959%. They earned 73.667% for the technical mark and 84.250% for the quality component (8.4 for seat, aids, precision and 8.5 for general impression).

Farla's team mate, Veerle van Hof and her 12-year old KWPN gelding Don Diablo (by Westpoint x Polansky) finished third wuth 76.092%. Van Hof received 70.933% for her technical execution and 81.250 for the quality of riding (8.5 for seat, 7.8 for aids, 8.2 for precision and 8.0 for general impression).

Anna Pellardy on Hilario Saint H
The French team is provisionally in second place with 143.484 points. Their best ride of the day was produced by Anna Dupuy Pelardy aboard the 13-year old Hanoverian Hilario Saint H (by Herzensdieb x Acorado). Anna's mom Bertille previously showed Hilario Saint at the 2013 World Young Horse Championships and won bronze with him at the 2013 French Young Horse Championships. Anna and Hilario Saint scored 72.667% with 69.333% for the technical mark and 76.000 for the quality mark (7.5 for seat, 7.6 for aids and precision and 7.7. for general impression).

Italy is now in third place with 130.975 points. Mina Felicitas Simeone and the 16-year old Rhinelander gelding Rantauplan (by Revan x Gluckstag) contributed 66.359% to that team score. The pair received 64.467% for the technical mark and 68.250 for the quality mark with 7.3 for seat, 6.6 for aids, and 6.7 for precision and general impression.

Tomorrow the Children's team competition continues and the medals will be decided.

Another way of viewing the provisional team ranking is by automatically including the scratch score in the team result, no matter if just one or already two riders competed in the team test. Viewed from that angle, Germany is in the lead with Paschertz' top score, followed by Holland and Hungary.
