Hungarian Grade V para dressage rider Ildiko Fonyodi has been sponsored a new dressage horse for the future. Hungarian entrepreneur Arie Yom-Tov gave her the ride on the Under 25 Grand Prix horse and former breeding stallion Bojengel.
Bojengel is a 17-year old KWPN licensed stallion by Uptown out of Tistie ter Kwincke (by Gribaldi). He is bred by Abel Slippens and was originally named Baron Ter Kwincke.
Bojengel
The bay stallion was licensed at the 2009 KWPN Stallion Licensing and sold at the KWPN Select Sale to Serge Pais, Chris van Breugel of Stal de Bekelaar and Westrade Stables. He sired one licensed son, Ghandi.
Bojengel competed as a young horse in The Netherlands and was trained and shown by a large string of riders including Stephanie Dorr, Kim Leduc, Janny Koks and Stephanie Peters, and Tommie Visser.
Visser and Bojengel had one season at international small tour level with competition starts from November 2015 through January 2016 in Lier, Roosendaal, and Mechelen. They won the Lier Prix St Georges and Roosendaal Inter I Kur. The pair also rode in the national PSG held at the 2016 CDI-W Amsterdam.
Jazmin Yom Tov
In 2018 Arie Yom-Tov acquired the stallion as a competition horse for his Grand Prix level riding daughter Jazmin, who is based at their yard "Sport Pro Horses" in Uden, The Netherlands.
The new pair made its international debut at the 2019 CDI Pilisjaszfalu at Young Riders level. A month later she moved the horse up to Under 25 Grand Prix in Exloo. Between 2019 and June 2021 she showed him in Leudelange, Pilisjaszfalu and Fot, winning two classes at the latter show.
Para Horse for Fonyodi
Yom Tov has now decided to give the ride on the stallion to Grade V para rider Ildiko Fonyodi
"With their first ever competition yesterday, we can officially show the world this new combination," Yom Tov posted on social media. "Ildikó Fonyódi and Bojengel had their debut together. In Grade 5 they managed to get a score of 67% With Bojengel out of competitions for a long time, we are incredibly proud of his behaviour!! A new way of competing and then such a nice score. We can state that this promises a lot for their future together, so stay tuned to see their journey."
The 43-year old Fonyodi is a newcomer to the para scene, having competed in her first CPEDI in May 2022 aboard Zsuzsanna Kiss' 8-year old Westfalian Sir Sincere (by Sunday x Florestan). The pair represented Hungary at the 2022 World Para Dressage Championships in Herning, where they were 11th in the individual test.
