In a short period of time, French Grand prix rider Charlotte Chalvignac has sold two of her top horses to the U.S.A. After Icaro das Figueiras, the chestnut Elice has crossed the Atlantic for a new career.
Elice is a 14-year old Lusitano mare by Morango PS out of Eolica AML (by Oriental MTV). She is bred at Monte do Cisne in Portugal.
Charlotte Chalvignac
The chestnut mare entered the international dressage scene under French team rider Charlotte Chalvignav in 2020.
The duo had its CDI debut at Grand Prix level in Le Mans in February 2020 and posted 64.609% in the Grand Prix. They also showed t the CDI Cascais three weeks later and pushed their GP score up to 69.152%. Then the corona pandemic swept over the planet and competitions came to a halt. The pair withdrew for the 2020 French Championships in August.
Charlotte returned with Elice a year and halt later at the CDI Deauville in July 2021 and also rode her in Crozet two months later.
In 2022 the pair competed at three internationals: Le Mans, Compiegne and Jardy.
U.S.A.
Owned by Chalvignac in partnership with Olivier Arnal and the company Domaine de la Chapelle, Elice sold to the U.S.A. in January 2023.
The buyer is the American dressage Danielle Leiner, who had assigned Spaniard Victor Pomares to find a horse for her. He discovered Elice in the barn of Alexandre Ayache.
Elice has flown to the U.S.A. where she is in quarantine in New Jersey. She will then move to Dancer Dressage in Millstone, NJ where the new pair will train with Jamie Dancer.
Leiner has been living in Arezzo, Italy, and in 2022 competed Hojgaardens Spencer (by Stevie Wonder x Akinos) at national small tour level.
