Dutch professional dressage rider Loes Corsel has been appointed Dutch Children and Pony Team trainer. She succeeds Imke Schellekens-Bartels, who resigned from this position in August 2023 to focus on her own riding and training career.

Corsel runs her own dressage stable in Coevorden, The Netherlands. She has been successful up to Grand Prix level and completed the Coach 5 education programme. Corsel last competed internationally over a decade ago. In the 2000s she achieved successes on Havel (by Cocktail) and Ramazotti II (by Rotspon). With the latter she finished 13th at the 2011 Dutch Grand Prix Championships.

In the early 2010s she coached French Grand Prix rider Sebastien Duperdu. More recently at the 2023 European Pony Championships she trained Barbora Krejcirova (CZE) on pony Altrido Olet's Koss, as well as as Dutch team member Britt Kikkert-Van der Linde at the 2023 European Junior Riders Championships.

"Corsel not only trains her students on the horse, but she also tries to get the best out of them and puts a lot of focus on mental health and support at competitions," the Dutch Equestrian Federation stations.

Loes will take up the job as of 1 January 2024. "In the next few months she'll be looking at potential squad candidates and work together with Imke Schellekens for a smooth transition," the KNHS stated.

"I love working with young people and try to motivate them to give their best. As I trained several students in the children and pony division, I've been on circuit for quite some time and I know what's being asked," said Loes. "Dressage sport is very individual, so it's really nice when you get the chance to do this together with a team for a country."

Monique Peutz continues to be the Dutch team trainer for the junior, young riders and U25. Patrick van der Meer and Alex van Silfhout share the task for the seniors.
