The selection committee for Para Dressage of the Swiss equestrian federation has named the squad for 2024.
The highlight of the next season for para-dressage is the Paralympics in Paris (FRA). Fabian Gieling, who is responsible for the squad, stated, “the selection criteria for the Paralympics for our riders have been defined. Unfortunately, due to the Paralympic rankings, it does not currently appear that a Swiss athlete will be able to take part in this major event, which I regret. But there is still a small chance. Next season we will concentrate even more on supporting our combinations – some with young horses. Two squad training sessions are planned, among other things. We are also looking forward to our annual appearance at the CSIO St. Gallen, where we can present our discipline to a wide audience. This year’s performance was a complete success.”
The long-term goal for the discipline is remaining to be able to send a Swiss team to a championship. In order to form a team, however, athletes from a lower level are required. To this end, the discipline will continue to support ambitious para-dressage riders as part of a funding program.
