The 2024 Bundeschampion stallion Bentheim became the top selling horse of the 2026 Westfalian Spring Elite Auction which took place on 19 April 2026.
A massive collection of horses - 64 riding horses and 16 foals - were offered for sale. The auction took 6h30 to finish and 81% of the collection was sold to new owners.
For the first time at a Westfalian auction pre-bidding was also possible, which was very well received by international clients in the run-up to the auction.
The 5-year old Bentheim (by Belvedere DB x Rock Forever) was the most wanted horse. The winner of the 2024 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, the bay is bred by Jürgen de Baey and owned by Gut Neuenhof. He began today’s auction with a pre-bidding starting bid of 95,000 euros and sold for 209,000 euros. The Westfalian society reported that "he will continue his training at an international Grand Prix stable."
A Look at the Sold Horses

The 4-year old Sarottini (by Segantini x Sir Gregory) was the third horse to crack the 100,000 euro marker, selling for this price to a local bidder. The 5-year old mare Finja (by Fusionist x Lauries Crusador xx) went for 75,000 euro.
The 4-year old chestnut mare Divine Vogue of W (by Dynamic Dream x Fidertanz) sold for 63,000 euro, while a German bought Isla Bonita (by Ibiza Dream x Finest) for 53,000 euro. A Swiss client purchased Develey (by Dynamic Dream x Cascadello) for 53,000 euro. Jeronimo ST (by Jovian x For Romance) went for 50,000 euro.
Vaiana (by Vaderland x Furst Romancier) went for 47,000 euro while Donnalottchen (by Diamond Deluxe x Ferragamo) sold for 46,000 euro.

Foals
Thirteen riding horse foals and three riding pony foals were selected for this auction.
The best seller was filly Simbabwe (by Sir Heinrich x Escolar), selling for 15,000 euro. She sold to Vicky Lavoie in Canada. the Westfalian verband reported that "the same regular customers were also delighted to secure three additional foals and a riding horse that afternoon." The second most expensive riding horse foal was colt Viva Valentin (by Viva Vegas x Feinrich), selling for 13,000 euro.

Jumper foal Fifty Cent (by Facing the Future x Dominator) went for 11,500 euro. Pony foal Nils Holgersson B (by Noble Dance x Donchester) went for 10,500 euro.
Filly Versailles (by Vuelta x Bordeaux) went for 10,000 euro. Stallion owner Matthieu Beckmann from Wettringen bought three foal from this lot, securing offspring of his own stallions.
Of the riding horses 80 percent changed hands and they achieved an average price of 34,490 euro. Fourteen of the 16 foals offered were successfully sold to new owners, achieving an average price of 9,464 euro.
