The 2018 Luxembourg Dressage Championships at Windhof equestrian centre in Welscheid, Luxembourg, on 14 - 16 September 2018, featured the Young Horse Nationals which were won by the 4-year old Quatre-Quarts a l'Orange, the 5-year old Symphony, and the 6-year old Dragon Welt.
The 4-year old division was quite popular with 12 pairs competing. Experienced young horse trainer Kristine Möller steered Jens Thorsen's Hanoverian mare Quatre-Quarts a l'Orange (by Quaterhall x Royal Blend) to victory with an 8.4 and 8.8 score. The chestnut mare is funnily named after French orange sponge cake. Moller also scored the silver medal aboard her own and Jens Thorsen's German Sport Horse bred gelding Spectre (by Sezuan x Silvermoon) with 8.2 and 8.3. Tamara Michei and the Westfalian stallion Fireball MZ (by Franziskus x Donnerball) finished with the bronze after posting 7.9 and 8.0.
Five combinations competed in the 5-year old division and Grand Prix rider Mandy Zimmer grabbed the gold and silver medal. Aboard the Oldenburg stallion Symphony MZ (by Sir Donnerhall x Furst Heinrich) she scored 8.2 and 8.è for gold, while the Hanoverian mare First Lady MZ (by Furst Romancier x Latimer) got silver with 7.8 and 8.0. Belgian Sarah van Daele landed the bronze medal aboard the Westfalian Falbala (by Furstenball x Laureus) with 7.0 and 6.8.
Mandy Zimmer made the Luxembourg Young Horse Championships her show as she also won gold and silver in the 6-year old division. As the sole rider in the class completing both championship rounds, there was no competition holding her back. Aboard the Hanoverian stallion Dragon Welt (by Dancier x Weltmeyer) she scored the gold with 8.8 and 8.4. With the KWPN bred stallion Herosch MZ (by Ampere x Jazz) she got silver with 7.6 and 7.3.
