The 2020 CDI Exloo 3* dressage competition, scheduled to take place on 22 - 25 October 2020, has been cancelled.
This week the Dutch government announced tighter measures to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. One of these measures was the sport events can no longer allow an audience.
This summer sport events in the Netherlands allowed spectators to attend competitions. As a matter of fact 2020 Dutch Dressage Championships in Ermelo in September, for instance, seemed to have a bigger audience this year compared to 2019. Mask wearing was not mandatory in Holland either, but this has all changed.
The new regulations forced the Exloo organizers to cancel their 2020 edition.
"A four day international event is not organizable if participants have to leave the accommodation immediately after their performance," said the OC. "Furthermore the hospitality area and seating areas have to be closed and are only accessible to a few people."
For 2021 Exloo has scheduled three CDI's: an indoor 3* on 25 - 28 March, an outdoor 3* on 6 - 9 May 2020 and an indoor 3* on 21 - 24 October 2021.
