Wellington Full Steam Ahead with 2021 Global Dressage Festival Despite Corona Pandemic

Equestrian Sport Promotions, the company behind the organisation of the annual Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, will be going full steam ahead with a 2021 edition of its three-month competition circuit at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center

The 2021 Global Dressage Festival will run from 13 January through 4 April 2021.

Competition will include 12 weeks of CDI 5*, CDI 4*, CPEDI 3*, CDIO 3*, CDIW, and National rated classes.

Young athletes can compete in the 2021 Florida International Youth Dressage Championships during week 10, March 16-21. 

The 2021 Schedule is as following

  • 13 - 17 January 2021: CDI-W / CDN
  • 27 - 31 January 2021: CDI 4* / CPEDI 3* / CDN
  • 10 - 14 February 20201: CDI-W / CDN
  • 19 - 21 February 2021: CDN
  • 24 - 28 February 2021: CDI 5* / CDN
  • 3 - 7 March 2021: CDI-W Palm beach Derby / CDN
  • 12 - 14 March 2021: CDN
  • 16 - 21 March 2021: CDIO 3* / CDN
  • 26 - 28 March 2021: CDN
  • 31 March - 4 April 2021: CDI 4* / CDN
Two Extra CDI's in Autumn 2020

In addition there will be two further CDI's at the venue in 2020: 

  • November 12-15, 2020: AGDF Fall I – CDI 3*
  • December 10-13, 2020: AGDF Holiday I – CDI-W

Further details regarding spectators, rider and staff credentials, VIP packages, and media access will be released shortly.

"The management team of the Global Dressage Festival is working diligently to organize new protocols in order to ensure the safety of all visitors, exhibitors, and employees at the facility," the ESP press release read.

It will be interesting to see if any European riders, trainers, grooms, press will be travelling to Florida with flights to North America heavily restricted. Furthermore it is unsure at this point if Canadians can freely snowbird in Florida at the time of the event.
