Ferrari OLD, the 2016 PSI Auction price highlight and WCYH silver medal winner, has been sold to Dietrich and Annabel von Boetticher of Gestut Ammerland in Bavaria as a Grand Prix ride for Rudolf Widmann.

Ferrari is an 8-year old Oldenburg stallion by Foundation out of Hosandra (by Hotline). He is bred by Paul Schockemohle.

"Mr Von Boetticher has always loved this horse and they came here to try him," Andreas confirmed to Eurodressage. "However, Ferrari is still with me here in Denmark and has not moved to Germany yet. We'll see what happens in the near future."

PSI Auction Price Highlight

In 2016 Ferrari won the Oldenburg Young Horse Championship for 4-year old stallions in Rastede and finished 10th at the Bundeschampionate under Frederic Wandres.

The stallion sold at the PSI Auction in Ankum as the price highlight for 1.5 million euro to French born and Luxembourg based banker Patrice Mourruau of Dressage Grand Ducal in Luxembourg.

Mourruau sponsors and collaborates with Luxembourg dressage rider Sascha Schulz and his partner Christof Umbach, but Schulz only ended up riding Ferrari very briefly.

Sent to Denmark

In 2017 Grand Ducal sent a batch of horses, including Ferrari and other PSI auction acquisition Quel Filou, to Helgstrand Dressage to be sold. Ferrari came under Helgstrand ownership, according to the FEI, and was swapped for instance for the Lusitano Grand Prix stallion Dragao for Sascha Schulz to ride.

At the 2020 CDN Hjallerup
Under Andreas Helgstrand the tall Ferrari earned silver at the 2017 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo. In 2018 he returned to Ermelo but landed 10th place in the 6-year old finals.  At the Danish Young Horse Championships the pair got bronze in 2017 and 2018.

Ferrari then disappeared from the international scene, but competed briefly in Denmark as a 7-year old in 2019, first under Hannes Lütt and two months later once with Andreas.

In January 2020, the stallion made his Grand Prix debut at the CDN Esbjerg at age 7, still needing to turn 8 years old in the spring. They scored 71.567% in the Grand Prix and 72.255% in the Special. At the beginning of July 2020, Helgstrand rode him at the national show  in Hjallerup and scored 73.859% in the Inter 2 and 70.229% in a GP Special.

To Gestut Ammerland

Winning the 2018 Bundeschampionate with Revenant
In the near future Ferrari might call Gestut Ammerland in Bavaria his new home. The impressive horse facility is owned by the millionaire Dietrich von Boetticher, a lawyer by profession.

Von Boetticher is one of Europe's most successful Thoroughbred race horse breeders and owners, but also has  a dressage and jumping stable managed by Rudolf Widmann and Martin Schaufler.

Ammerland owns other expensive PSI Auction horses horses such as Der Schufro (400,000 euro), Fasine (1.3 million euro) and Revenant (1.1 million euro) which Rudolf Widmann competes.
