The show organizers of Indoor Brabant - aka The Dutch Masters, aka the World Cup qualifier of 's Hertogenbosch - have rescheduled their 2021 edition to 23 to 25 April 2021.
The event will not be a World Cup qualifier but a CDI 4*, alongside some jumper classes. It will take behind closed doors.
2021 CDI-W Cancelled due to EHV-1 Lockdown
For the second year in a row the CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch was cancelled by force majeure: in 2020 at the onset of the corona pandemic and in 2021 because of the lockdown imposed by the FEI following the EHV-1 outbreak in Spain.
"It was a disappointment beyond comprehension for the organisation of The Dutch Masters but they were pulling out all the stops to find a solution," said the organizers.
Eight CDI's the Weekend of 23 - 25 April
Interestingly the Den Bosch press release stated that "the riders are positive about and happy with the new date. Currently there are not enough high level events, which are so important for the riders’ preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games."
As a matter of fact, no less than 8 (!!) CDI's have now been scheduled world wide for that same weekend, seven of them taking place on European mainland
Conflict of Interest?
The FEI apparently sees no conflict of interest in having so many events scheduled the same weekend. Due to national corona lockdown situations, travel across borders is not always as easy.
More interesting will be how these show organisations will find a sufficient amount of judges to officiate at these simultaneous shows.

All these shows will need to put additional hygiene measures in place. While people need a corona test to attend them, horses now also need to test negative to EHV-1 before entering the show grounds.
"To organise the event not only corona-proof but also rhino-proof, measures will be taken such as a veterinarian check-up upon arrival, regular temperature measurements and possibly a nose swab of the participating horses," said the Den Bosch OC. "All measures will be discussed in detail in the coming weeks in cooperation with all authorities in order to be well prepared."
No communication so far has been made whether the CDI Valencia will take place. This show is hosted at ground zero of the EHV-1 outbreak and the organizers there are still dealing with the wake of this major viral outbreak at their equestrian centre.
