Carlos is one of the most successful German dressage horses in the youth division and now the Hanoverian Horse Promotion Society (FRH) has awarded him the FRH suffix: Carlos FRH.
With rider Hannah Erbe, the dark bay has won eight gold medals at European Junior and Young Rider Championships so far and is preparing to continue his successful path with the U25 riders.
Rhinelander Bred in Belgium
The Rhinelander bred son of Carabas x Weltmeyer is bred by Franz Johann Reinartz in Eupen, Belgium, in 2007.
When Carlos was seven years old, Hannah Erbe discovered him with her trainer Heiner Schiergen. Just one year later, the two won their first titles at the 2015 European Junior Riders Championships in Vidauban/FRA.
The talented young dressage rider won many more gold medals. Under trainer Heiner Schiergen Carlos FRH was also top placed in the finals of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal and the Louisdor Prize.
"Carlos is an exceptional horse! He has given me so much," said Hannah Erbe.
Under 25 Team Horse
Carlos FRH and Hannah Erbe have been training with Johann Hinnemann at the Krüsterhof in Voerde for two years and are on their way to Grand Prix level. They already celebrated their first victory at this level in May last year in Vreschen-Bokel/GER. The last title win was not long ago. In August 2020, the two became European Vice Champions with the German U25 team in Pilisjászfalu/HUN.
"Carlos really deserves the FRH award, I still want to ride him as much as possible," said a happy Hannah Erbe. The honorary ceremony to celebrate Carlos FRH is planned for a suitable occasion in front of a large crowd of spectators for later this year.
What Does the FRH Suffix Mean?
Many successful Hanoverian registered dressage horses have been bestowed with the FRH suffix, which is considered to be an "honorary title".
"The FRH means first and foremost an award for an outstanding Hanoverian sport horse. It is an idealistic award," Britta Zungel told Eurodressage. "In addition, there are also partnerships where the training is supported by a grant."
When asked what this training grant entails, Züngel added that, "there is no set amount of support. This is decided on a case-by-case basis and is agreed upon very individually and confidentially."
Twenty-two internationally competed sport horses are now carrying the FRH suffix. You can see the list here.
