The 12-year old internationally competed Danish Trakehner gelding Placido Domingo has been sold to Germany.

Placido Domingo is by Dorkas out of elite mare Perle XXVIII (by Hohenstein). He is bred and was owned by Jorgen Steen Jensen of Stutteri Hojagergaard.

Danish Trakehner

Placido Domingo is a half brother to Grand Prix horses Petit Pompadou and elite mare Perlenglanz II (both by Latimer) as well as to licensed stallion Prinz K3 (by K2). All are out of dam Perle, which Jorgen bought as a 13-year old in Germany from Ernst Albert Hack.

Placido Domingo was licensed as a breeding stallion for the Trakehner and Danish warmblood studbook in 2012. He produced 95 offspring, but was gelded un 2018.

Career in Sport

He was first competed as a youngster by Mikael Ketelsen, who finished 10th with him at the 2013 Danish Young Horse Championships. A year later he finished third in the consolation finals for 5-year old at the 2014 Nationals.

In 2015 Maria Anita Andersen began competing the  horse and finished sixth in the 6-year old Finals at the Danish Young Horse Championships.  The pair made its CDI show debut at small tour level in Herning in 2017.

In 2018 and 2019 Emma Ahlberg rode the stallion at national level.

Victoria Vallentin on Placido Domingo in 2019
In the summer of 2019 Danish Under 25 rider Victoria Vallentin took over and first showed him at national small tour level, before taking him to the CDIO Kristiansand in October 2019. They placed second twice.  Vallentin also presented him at the CDI's in Herning and Randbol that year, each time finishing in the top 4. His last show was in October 2019.

Most recently Soren Wind and Kenneth Damgaard were developing the gelding towards Grand Prix level.

Student of Dorothee Schneider

Placido Domingo has now been sold to German Angelika Neukranz, who trains with Dorothee Schneider.

Neukranz is a pediatric psychotherapist and amateur dressage rider who competes at national Grand Prix level.

In 2020 Angelika has been showing Lawrence (by Laomedon x Fidermark) in the big tour at regional shows in Germany. Lawrence was previously developed and competed by Uta Gräf.

In November 2020 Neukranz lost her small tour horse Feriado to colic. He was trained and competed by Schneider.
