At the start of 2022 the Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) set new, tightened squad submission criteria, which let to strikingly thinned out field of riders in the A- squads in the new year.
The federation immediately received "requests" to relax the criteria and allow again for more national shows to be considered as squad selection trials instead of riders having to score first at CDI's in order to be included in the squads.
Iris Boelhouwer, Technical Director of the KNHS, and the Dutch dressage committee have responded to this plea and altered the criteria again.
Senior riders can now also achieve their squad scores at the Dutch Championships and national Grand Prix class at the CDIO Rotterdam. For the A-squad, which can include a maximum of 8 riders, riders need to achieve 3x 75% in the Grand Prix, for the B-squad they need to ride 3x 72%. One of the CDI scores has to be achieved abroad.
Children, Junior, young riders, and Under 25 can be submitted to the A-squad based on 2 CDI scores and 1 national squad selection event, scoring 3x 72%. The B-squad riders need to score 3x 70%, one of these at a CDI and two at national squad selection shows. The children can achieve their CDI scores at internationals in Holland, the other youth riders have to achieve at least one CDI score abroad.
For pony riders it is a similar system for the A and B-squad but the percentage bar is different. Pony riders need to get 71% for the A-squad and 69% for the B-squad.
