Estelle Wettstein's Tokyo Olympic ride West Side Story OLD has been sold to Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff for daughter Liselott Marie to ride.
West Side Story is a 14-year old Oldenburg mare by San Amour out of Walzertakt (by Donnerhall x Pik Bube I x Welt As). She is bred by Henry Grosse Macke.
German Start
The black mare had her career in sport starting in Germany. She was first competed as a 3-year old by Antje Teute in 2011.
The mare was part of the collection of the 2012 Oldenburg Spring Elite Auction in Vechta and sold
In the summer of 2012 a new rider, Fritz Fleischmann, presented her in the riding horse tests and the owner at the time was "Brook Farm". He rode her to a fifth place at the 2012 Oldenburg Young Horse Championships in Rastede.
Sold to Switzerland
In the autumn of 2012, the mare sold to the Wettstein family in Switzerland. They had been looking for a junior riders horse for 15-year old Estelle at the time, but their eye was caught by the young mare West Side Story.
Estelle made her international show debut on West Side Story in the young riders division at the 2016 CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland and campaigned her in Saumur and Compiegne that year to be nominated on the Swiss team for the European Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, Spain, where they finished fourth in the Kur to Music finals.
In 2017 they continued in at Young riders level with a string of victories in Saumur and Compiegne
WEG, Euros, Olympics
Wettstein moved the mare up to Grand Prix level in 2018 and instead of doing Under 25 she took her straight into the senior division.
The bold move paid off as they were selected to compete at the 2018 World Equestrian Games after winning results at the CDI's in Achleiten and Deauville. At the WEG in Tryon the duo had an off-day and landed 73rd place with 62.019%.
In 2019 they went to the European Championships in Rotterdam, where they landed 31st place with 70.047% in the Grand Prix and in 2021 they were the Swiss representatives as individuals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they scored 67.748% in the Grand Prix for 41st place.
Estelle and West Side Story became Swiss national champions in 2020. They got silver in 2016 and 2019.
The pair was selected to compete on the Swiss team at the 2021 European Dressage championships in Hagen, but she pulled out the mare and replaced her with Quaterboy. Tokyo ended up being their last international competition.
Linsenhoff
In March 2022 West Side Story sold to Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff for her daughter Marie to ride.
Marie is currently living and studying fashion design in Paris and keeps her horses at the Etrier de Paris in the Bois de Boulogne.
"I am very sad," Estelle told eurodressage about the sale of West Side story. "I had her since she was 4 so i worked for 10 years with her. But she has a great place now, so that‘s nice."
