Two of The Netherlands' key team horses at the 2019 European Championships will be absent from the second Dutch team observation trial at CDI Exloo on 2 - 5 June 2022.
Both Hans Peter Minderhoud's Dream Boy and Emmelie Scholtens' Desperado are not showing at this event.
Dream Boy (by Vivaldi x Ferro) missed out on the first team selection trial during the 2022 Dutch Dressage Championships and was entered for Exloo, but withdrawn by the rider for Exloo. According to Horses.nl, trainer Nicole Werner cannot give a clear answer if the stallion will be fit on time for team selection.
Emmelie Scholtens' Desperado (by Vivaldi x Havidoff) returned to the arena after a long period of injury at the Dutch Championships, where he won the Grand Prix with 79% but then was withdrawn an hour before his ride in the freestyle.
Horses.nl reported that Desperado had a swollen leg at the Championships. "I don't want to take any risks with him, Scholtens told Horses.nl. "After the Dutch Championships he has to take it easy for a while and Exloo is just a little too soon."
The Dutch riders have four team selection trials for consideration for the World Championships in Herning: the Nationals, followed by CDI Exloo, CDIO Rotterdam, and CDIO Aachen.
Scholtens has Indian Rock as second options, while Minderhoud has been producing a new Grand Prix for the highest level, Invictus.
