Spanish Reserve Young Horse Champion Laurin Sold to the U.S.A.

American dressage breeder and sponsor Louise Leatherdale has acquired the 2021 Spanish Reserve Young Horse Champion Laurin as an FEI hopeful for American Olympian Guenter Seidel.

Laurin is a 7-year old Hanoverian by Lemony's Nicket out of Furstenlady (by Furst Heinrich x Landadel).

The chestnut stallion Laurin was trained and competed by José Alejandro Alcaide Roda from the start.

He made his show debut as a 4-year old in 2019 and placed 16th in the preliminary round at the 2019 Spanish Young Horse Championships. A year later Laurin dropped out of the final round of the 2020 Spanish Young Horse Championships, but they returnedin 2021 with a vengeance and scored the silver medal at the 2021 National Young horse Championships.

The pair made its international show debut in the 6-year old classes at the CDI's in Camarma de Esterueles and Jerez de la Frontera in 2021. This year Alcaide Roda and Laurin competed in the 7-year old developing Prix St Georges horse classes and scored a double victory at the CDI Camarma de Esteruelas (Las Cadenas) in the 7-year old tests

American dressage website Dressage-News reported the sale of Laurin to Louise Leatherdale for Guenter Seidel to ride.

Leatherdale also owns Seidel's horses Beltano (by Belissimo M x Hohenstein) and Equirelle (by Florett As x Donnerhall). The former has been shown up to small tour level, while the latter is Guenter's number one Grand Prix horse, which he last competed on the 2021 Global Dressage Festival, at the CDI Achleiten in Austria, and on the West Coast. The black mare has been sidelined since 2022.

Seidel is based in Cardiff near San Diego, California.
