Stallone L Named 2022 KWPN Foal Champion

The chestnut colt Stallone L was named the champion of the 2022 KWPN Foal Championship on 5 August 2022.

From a group of 61 foals, 13 were selected to battle it out for the title and were judged by Marian Dorresteijn, Petro Trommelen and Brecht d'Hoore.

The tall and handsome Stallone L was named the champion. Bred by Frans Leijten, he is by Lord Romantic x Apache and stood out with his very cadenced trot and outstanding canter. He is owned by Adri van Erp and Jeroen Witte.

"This foal can walk well with a lot of suppleness, also in trot he moves from the hindquarters and shows a lot of suppleness. In canter he is really special with a lot of activity, ground cover and body usage," said the judges.

The reserve champion's title went to filly Salsa Tequila (by Total McLaren out of elite mare Evita (by Jazz). She is bred by T. Tolner and is from the same dam line as national Grand Prix horse Italo (by Furstenball).

"This is a long lined foal which shows a lot in movement. She has a lot of swing and moves uphill," said the jury.

The third ranked foal was the filly Savanne Fan T (by Lennox U.S. out of elite mare Fancy T (by Vivaldi), bred by Angele Toonen. She moved with much self carriage in trot.
