Bomerang, a former Swedish junior riders' team horse and World Young Horse Championship participant, has passed away. He was 22 years old.

Bomerang was a Swedish warmblood gelding by Bolero (by Bernstein x Chagall) out of the home bred mare Lanette (by Anart x Urbino x Lansiär).

Home Bred

The bay gelding, who combined best of  Swedish warmblood breeding, was bred, reared, owned, trained and competed by Britt-Marie Henningsson-Ivarsson.

Under Ivarsson the bay gelding had considerable success in the young horse classes. As a 3-year old he was sixth at the 2003 Swedish Young Horse Championships. As a 5-year old he finished 7th under Mattias Jansson at the 2005 Swedish Young Horse Championships. A year later in 2006, Britt-Marie rode him to a fourth place at the 2006 Swedish Young Horse Championships.

They represented Sweden at the 2006 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where they were 20th in the 6-year old consolation finals with 6.44.

She competed him at CDI's in Falsterbo and Copenhagen up to small tour level. Nationally he was produced to Grand Prix level but the horse's talent was more for the small tour.

In 2011 Britt-Marie's 13-year old daughter Beatrice took over the ride.

The pair made its international show debut at the 2013 CDI Moorsele at junior level and went on to represent Sweden at the 2013 European Junior Riders Championships in Compiegne, where they were 35th in the individual test with 64.632%. They added the gold medal and title at the 2013 Swedish Junior Riders Championships to their tally.

In 2014 they competed at European Junior Riders Championships in Arezzo and were 34th in the individual test with 67.737%.  In 2015 they had their last season in the international show ring with starts at the CDI's in Hagen and Malmo. That year they won their second national gold at the 2015 Swedish Junior Riders Championships.

In 2016 they were 8th at the 2016 Swedish Junior Riders Championship. Beatrice went on to campaign Bomerang at national level until 2018.

Retirement

At the 2014 European Junior Riders Championships
Bomerang was retired from sport at their home yard near Svalov, Sweden.

Beatrice continued her sport career as a young rider with the home bred Charles (by Bocelliu x Chapman). Her last international start was in June 2019.

In an interview with Hippson.se, Ivarsson disclosed that Bomerang's teeth had deteriorated to such an extent that it was decided in his best interest to put the horse to sleep.

Ivarsson also wrote, "you will always be the king of the stable and we will all miss your mischievous inventions. Yu have done everything - all year finals, Falsterbo, breeders cup, young horse World Championships, two Swedish gold medals, two European Championships, and so many wins with me as a youth rider that I don't even can count anymore. Most of all you were my best friend growing up."
