In an interview with, Ivarsson disclosed that Bomerang's teeth had deteriorated to such an extent that it was decided in his best interest to put the horse to sleep.

Ivarsson also wrote, "you will always be the king of the stable and we will all miss your mischievous inventions. Yu have done everything - all year finals, Falsterbo, breeders cup, young horse World Championships, two Swedish gold medals, two European Championships, and so many wins with me as a youth rider that I don't even can count anymore. Most of all you were my best friend growing up."
