Danish young professional rider Josefine Hoffmann has said her employer of six years, Anna Kasprzak, goodbye. With this decision she also lost the ride on her career making horse, Honnerups Driver.
The 25-year old Hoffman will start a new chapter in her professional career.
Extensive Show Experience
Hoffmann began competing at age 10 on Hubert and Snubbi and in 2008 with Meter. In 2010 her show ponies were Astarola (by Astara ox x Ofero) and Strandagers Bandit (by Blues Brendan x Malibu II). In 2012 she competed pony Sophienhof's Maroon (by Sophienhof's Marok x Park's Taron).
Her international career started in 2013 at FEI pony level with Strandagers Bandit with one CDI in Vestfold, Norway. On a national level, Josefine continued to show a large string of ponies (Natasja, Klepholms Guldfax) and horses (Schrøters Just'tino, Pink Horse Electra, Top Genes Shetan, Schönste).
Assistant Rider for Kasprzak
In 2017 she accepted a rider's job at Anna Kasprzak's yard at age 17.
The job came with the perk that she was allocated the ride on the World Young Horse Champion Honnerups Driver (by Romanov x Don Schufro) in the spring of that year. The pair made its show debut at the 2017 CDN Vejle on 15 - 17 April 2017 winning an M-level class. From there they were upwards bound.
Honnerups Driver
The pair made its international show debut at Young Riders' level at the CDIO-Y Uggerhalne, followed by the CDIO-Y Hagen. They represented Denmark at the 2017 European Young Riders Championships and finished 7th in the freestyle. A year later they were selected on the team again for the 2018 Europeans but had to pull out due to an injury.
In 2019 the duo moved up to Under 25 Grand Prix level and won team and Kur bronze at the European U25 Championships in San Giovanni in Marignano (ITA). At the 2020 Euroepans they won team bronze and were fourth in the Kur and at the 2021 Europeans they landed 6th place in the Kur. They finished their career together with gold at the 2022 Danish Under 25 Championships, while at the 2022 European Under 25 Championships they got team silver and were 13th in the Short Grand Prix, but did not make it into the freestyle.
Josefine's last CDI on the 18-year old Driver was two weeks ago at the World Cup Qualifier in Vilhelmsborg, where they were third in the Under 25 freestyle.
New Chapter
Josefine and Anna have agreed to end the collaboration and for Hoffmann a new chapter awaits.
"I had a really good time at Anna's place," Hoffmann told Ridehesten. "I have learned a lot and I have had the most beautiful horses to ride during the nearly 6.5 years I have been there. My best friend Driver, who has given me so many fantastic experiences and memories I would never have had if I hadn't entered there, and I will be eternally grateful for that."
Hoffmann has no new job she is immediately stepping into and is exploring options.
"Time will tell what I have to do next," she said. "I keep all options open and see what presents itself, and then I take it from there."
