Seven Colts Selected on First Pre-Selection Day for 2023 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing

The first pre-selection day for the 2023 Danish Warmblood stallion licensing took place in Vallensbak on Sunday 11 December 2022 and seven dressage bred colts have been selected for Herning.

Freezing temperatures and some light snow did not stop the licensing committee from assessing the young stallions outdoors on hard surface and indoor on the lunge and in hand.

Amongst the selected colts is the bay Valuable (by Valverde x Sezuan) who was the subject of the most recent contentious article Nordjyske published (on 8 December 2022), about yet another horse deal between Andreas Helgstrand and a buyer/seller gone sour. According to Nordjyske, Lavoie bought the foal for 79,000 euro at the 2020 Schockemöhle / Helgstrand Online Foal Auction, but Helgstrand refused to hand over full ownership after the auction and a bitter quarrel ensued. Both parties posted very appeasing messages about each other on Facebook following the Nordjyske article.

The next pre-selection of dressage colts will be Wednesday 14 December in Vilhelmsborg, for which 35 colts are entered.
