The Colombian Equestrian Federation has announced the team that will represent Colombia at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games (CACG) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on 24 June to 3 July 2023.
Team trainer Albrecht Heidemann (CAN) will serve as chef d'equipe.
The 2023 CACG has San Salvador, El Salvador as main host city, but due to infrastructure and schedule issues equestrian sport has been relocated to Santo Domingo (DOM). Read more about the organisation and selection woes in this article.
Team Colombia were the gold medal winners at the 2010 Games while individually Colombian Marco Bernal claimed gold in 2010 and 2014. A decade later, Colombia is in pursuit of Mexico which has taken over the leading team spot.
Representing Colombia are:
- Andrea Vargas on Milonga, a 12-year old Lusitano (reserve horse: Homerus P)
- Raúl Corchuelo on Harley N, an 11-year old Dutch warmblood by Chagall x Oscar (reserve horse: Maverick)
- Juliana Gutiérrez on Flanissimo, a 13-year old Rhinelander by Flanagan x Ferragamo
- Mariana Atehortúa on Justify As, a 14-year old Oldenburg by Jazz x Inselfurst
The reserve pairs are
- Santiago Cardona on Soulina, a 14-year old Bavarian warmblood by Quaterback x Sandro Hit
- Laura Quintero on Jaguar, a 13-year old Colombian bred warmblood without pedigree registered with the FEI
