Chinese Team Selected for the 2023 Asian Games

The Chinese Equestrian Federation has selected its dressage team for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, on 26 - 28 September 2023.

China will be fielding a team of four dressage riders, three are based domestically and one lives in Great Britain and competes on the European CDI dressage scene. 

Team China includes: 

  • Sarah Rao on the 12-year old KWPN gelding Geniaal (by Vivaldi x Biotop) or the 13-year old KWPN gelding Faydirmie ZH (by Zardando x Perion)
  • Zhou Qin Huang on the 13-year old Belgian warmblood gelding Kastar Hof ter Zeedycke (by Gameboy x Bonheur) or the 14-year old Oldenburg Quazotti (by Quaterback x Stedinger)
  • Bing Gu on the 14-year old KWPN gelding Dodge WS (by Spielberg x Apollonios xx) or the 15-year old Hanoverian mare Henriette von der Weide (by Hochadel x Wolkenstein II)
  • Chao Lan on the 11-year old Hanoverian Badoit (by Belissimo M x Lauries Crusador xx) or the 15-year old Oldenburg Sergio Leone (by Sir Donnerhall x Stedinger).

The reserve is Zhi Qin Tan on the 19-year old Hanoverian mare Scala B (by Scarlatti x Le Beau). 

"I am incredibly honoured to announce that I am officially representing team China as a dressage athlete at the Asian games in Hangzhou, China - my hometown, making this an even more special milestone in my dressage journey, " she stated. "This will be my first time being able to compete at the Asian games and so I'd just like to give a massive thank you to my support system who have always pushed me to do better and get stronger."
