Ballerina was named champion of the 2023 Hanoverian Elite Mare Show in Verden on 5 August 2023. She won the renowned Herwart von der Decken-Show.

A group of 40 dressage bred Hanoverian mares was presented and they were judged by Katy Holder-Vale (chair of the British Hanoverian Horse Society) together with Matthias Klatt and Ulrich Hahne.

Hanoverian Elite Mare Championship

Hann.Pr.A. Ballerina (by Bon Courage x Destano) is bred at Hof Schepergerdes in Meppen and owned by Christa Zumbeel-Dust. A year ago her half brother Big Ben (by Bonds) was licensed in Verden.

Summersby (by Sandro Hit x Donnerhall), bred and owned by Gestut W.M. became the reserve champion. She comes from a sporty family, her grand dam Real Gold is the dam of Duke of Britain FRH, who won team bronze with Germany’s Frederic Wandres at the World Championships in Herning.

Friedrich Jahncke prize

In addition, the best mare family of the past show season was crowned in the For Pleasure arena. The Friedrich Jahncke prize went to Hann.Pr.St. Chayenne (by Christ x Raphael (breeder: Marefield Meadows, Blender) and her two daughters Hann.Pr.A. Doortje (by D'Egalite) and a two-year-old by Jovian.

The mare Zambia (by Zinedream x Ransom O'War xx) was named the champion in the "half-blood" division for Hanoverian x Thoroughbred crossbred horses. She is bred by Ina von Estorff.
