Citation, New Grand Prix Horse for Carrie Schopf

Multiple European Championship dressage rider Carrie Schopf has acquired the 11-year old Danish warmblood mare Citation as her new Grand Prix horse.

Citation is by Zack out of Chirrup (by Don Gregory x Zeus) and bred by Grete & Poul Petersen. She was originally named Chloé.

Denmark

The mare was first competed in Denmark as a 4-year old by Rikke Dupont, who premiered her in August 2016 in a qualifier for the Danish young horse championships.

They returned to the arena in January 2017 and then again competed in the qualifier for 5-year olds. At the 2017 Danish Young Horse Championships she scored 82 points in the first round but was not ranked in the finals test.

A year later Victoria Vallentin competed the mare in a qualifier for 6-year olds in Svenstrup and placed fourth with 86 points.

Luxembourg - Hof Kasselmann

Chloé sold to Grand Ducal Dressage in Luxembourg but she quickly ended up selling to Hof Kasselmann in 2019. She was renamed Citation.

Under Nicole Wego-Engelmeyer Citation made her show debut in Ankum in October 2020 at M** level. In 2021 she moved her up to Prix St Georges level and rode the Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier in Hagen, Redefin and Ludwigsburg.

In 2022 the pair moved up to Grand Prix level, first showing in a few Inter II classes in Ankum before doing their first Gp test in Appelhulsen. In 2023 the duo made its debut at Grand Prix level at the CDI Neustadt-Dosse where they scored 68.217%.

From there they went to Stadl Paura and Hagen, their last show together.

In the spring Citation sold to Bremen based Bernd and Carrie Schopf for the 66-year old Carrie to ride.

On Ikhtisas at the 2000 Palm Beach Derby

The American born Carrie Schopf has been riding for Armenia since 2009. She first made her break through on the international stage with the mare Ikhtisas in 2000 when she competed for a spot on the U.S Olympic team for Sydney.

After Ikhtisas' retirement horses Montaigne and Gustav followed in the 2000s and then stallion Sancisco who gave her more international experience. In between 2012 and 2015 she also showed Demian and her husband Bernd's De Value.

Her career making Grand Prix horse has been Saumur (by Sancisco x Tanzmeister), bred by Julia Voigtlander, which she began competing internationally in 2018 and took her to the 2019 and 2013 European Championships and 2022 World Championships.

Schopf is scheduled to make her international show debut on Citation at the CDI-W Myakka City "Terranova Dressage" on 20 October 2023.
