The Oldenburg licensed breeding stallion Floriscount has moved to Denmark to stand at stud for the Danish market.
Floriscount is a 19-year old Oldenburg stallion by Florencio out of Arkona (by Donnerhall x Walldorf I x Tin Rocco). He is bred and owned by Count Clemens August von Merveldt.
Licensed Stallion
The liver chestnut was first licensed as a 4-year old at the Oldenburg late licensing in April 2008 and half a year later approved for Hanover.
He did his 70-day stallion performance test in Schlieckau in the autumn of 2008, scoring 128,80 points to finish second in a group of 39 stallions. He got a 147.49 score for dressage and 97.20 for show jumping.
He later fulfilled his licensing criteria through sport.
Sport Career
He was first competed by the breeder, Clemens von Merveldt, in 2008 in the riding horse tests and moved up to L-level in 2010.
Markus Gribbe then showed the stallion briefly at M-level in 2011 after which Christoph Koschel got the ride in August 2012. He showed the horse once in Ankum at S-level. The horse sustained an injury and needed some time to recover.
In October 2013 Oliver Oelrich took over the ride and rode the horse at his first CDI in Nieuw en St. Joosland in April 2014, winning the intermediaire I. Three weeks later they competed at the CDI Hagen at small tour level. That year Oelrich campaigned the stallion on the Nurnberger Burgpokal circuit and they were second in the Finals in Frankfurt.
A three-year break from competition followed and Floriscount returned to the arena in the summer of 2017 under Patricia Seddig (née von Merveldt) at developing Grand Prix level in Rastede. She showed him last in an Inter II in September 2017 in Ankum, which became the horse's last show in his career. He was 13 at the time.
Breeding Stallion
Floriscount has been quite a popular stallion in Germany. He has sired 21 licensed sons, of which 12 are in Studbook I and produced 399 daughters registered as broodmare in Germany, 108 of them are state premium. He is the dam sire for licensed stallions such as Von Und Zu and Danciero.
No less than 724 of his offspring are registered for sport in Germany. Thirty-three of them compete at S-level.
His most famous offspring are Fanalino (Daniel Bachmann), Freek d'Arx (Layla Schmid), Ferdinand (Kim Pfeiffer), Friendscout (Nick van Laer), Tophojs Florentina (Anna Zibrandtsen), Fortunato H20 (Roxanne Trunnell), amongst others.
Move to Denmark
Ridehesten reported that the stallion has now moved to Denmark to stand at Ib Kirk's Katrinelund.
He was Danish approved in 2018 and has already sired 163 offspring in Denmark.
