The internationally competed FEI pony and licensed Dutch Welsh pony stallion Orchard Red Prince has passed away on 8 June 2024. He was 22 years old.

Orchard Red Prince was a 2002 born NWPCS stallion by Aester El Nino out of Orchard Wielkanoc (by Verona's Bo-Go).

Licensed Stallion

Bred and initially owned by Jo and Wim van der Zalm in Rossum, The Netherlands, the dark bay stallion was licensed with the Dutch Welsh pony studbook and named champion.

In 2011 he was named "sport" stallion and in 2012 he got the preferent predicate. Because of the success of his offspring in sport he was named "Elite" stallion in 2020

Sport Career

The stallion was first competed nationally by Dave Olde and Bo Fijma.

The stallion broke through in international pony sport in 2019 at the age of 17.

Under Esmee Boers he debuted at the CDI Exloo. In 2020 he competed in Sint-Truiden and a year later, at age 19, he had his most successful show year with starts in Le Mans, Sint-Truiden, Exloo, Hagen, and Zandhoven. He was B-squad listed at the time.

He did his last CDI at age 20 at the 2022 CDI Kronenberg, where he posted 67.333% in the team test.

Red Prince's FEI passport shows three different owners: Esmee Boers in 2019, Andre Jurrius in 2020 and Chantal Kraaijeveld-Kleijn in 2024.
