Andreas Helgstrand's young licensed breeding stallions Opoque and Parero have been sold to Australian owners. The stallions found a new home in Germany.

Opoque

Opoque is a 5-year old KWPN stallion y by All at Once out of Ice Princess STH (by Davino VOD x Furst Heinrich). He is bred by Willeke Bos of Stal 104.

Co-owned by Helgstrand and the breeder, Opoque was one of four premium stallions at the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch.  the liver chestnut became the second best scorer in the 2022 KWPN Autumn Stallion Performance Test with 85.5 points. In April 2022 he also scored 8.34 points in the shortened suitability test in Vechta.

He moved to Denmark and was trained by Mette Sejbjerg Jensen, winning the 4-year old challenge at the 2023 World Young Horse Championships and finishing fifth at the 2023 Danish Young Horse Championships. This year he qualified to represent The Netherlands at the 2024 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo right before his sale was announced.

Parero

Parero is a 4-year old KWPN stallion by Toto Jr out of Bione (by Negro  x Matare). He is bred by  T. Bergmans.

He was discovered by Helgstrand as a foal at the 2020 Midden-Nederland Online Foal Auction and purchased for 41,000 euro. Parero was first licensed in Oldenburg in January 2023 and a few weeks later he was licensed at the 2023 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch. He but did not do a performance test in Holland yet. In 2024 he was accepted by Danish warmblood.

There is no show record available of the stallion in Denmark or Germany.

Both young dressage stallions have been sold to Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley and her mother Rosalind. They are based near Hamburg, Germany. Kristy's daughter Rose Oatley is the 2024 European Junior Riders Champion and former European pony champion and pony world record holder.

"They are absolutely fabulous stallions," Kristy told Eurodressafe. "We are excited for the future and would like to thank Helgstrand for the opportunity to welcome these stallions into our home."

This is not the first buy Oatley has made at Helgstrand. In September 2022 they acquired the World Young Horse Champion Hesselhoj's Down Town as a hopeful for Rose, but the 8-year old Danish warmblood stallion (by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x Zack) never competed and has been sent back to Denmark.

"Down Town is in Helgstrand ownership," Kristy confirmed.
