Greece's only international Grand Prix rider Theodora Livanos has sold her number one Grand Prix horse Dono di Maggio to an Indian rider as a schoolmaster.

Dono di Maggio is a 17-year old Oldenburg  gelding by Dimaggio out of Fenea (by Santander H x Castro). He is bred by Gabriele Heinisch.

The chestnut gelding was discovered and bought by Hof Kasselmann in Hagen as a youngster.  He was first competed by Frederic Wandres as a 5-year old in 2012.

In 2014 Spaniard Borja Carrascosa took over the ride. Borja had joined the riders' team at Hof Kasselmann, where he began his career as a professional rider. He premiered the gelding at Grand Prix level in 2015. He also rode Dono in his first CDI competition in Hamburg in the medium tour in May 2015.

After Carrascosa's departure from Hagen, British Olympian Emile Faurie took over the ride in 2017 and put the horse in the international spotlight. Their CDI debut was in 2017 in Fritzens.

In 2018 the pair scored a double victory at the Aachen Dressage Days, followed by top placings in Hagen and Bolesworth. At the 2018 CDI Fritzens they scored 75.596% for second place in the Special and clinched their British team spot for the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, where they won team bronze and placed 27th in the Special with 70.380%.

Theodora Livanos

Dono di Maggio sold to the Swiss based Greek rider Theodora Livanos as her schoolmaster to establish herself at international Grand Prix level alongside her second Grand Prix horse, Robinvale.

The new pair debuted at the CDI Achleiten in Austria in June 2019 under the tutelage of trainer Faurie. They showed in Cappeln, Crozet, Donaueschingen, Ornago, Le Mans, and Oldenburg in an attempt to qualify as an individual for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, who got postponed by one year due to the corona pandemic.

In 2020-2021 Livanos briefly returned the reins to her coach Emilie, who showed the horse in Keysoe, Wellington Heckfield, Compiegne and Zandhoven, scoring between 70.13 and 75.192% which did not suffice for a British Olympic team spot.

As of December 2021 Theo was back showing Dono at the World Cup qualifier in London. A two-year break from international competition followed as Livanos began to study at university in New York.  She competed Dono last the season of 2023 in Exloo, Wellington Heckfield, Hartpury, Kronenberg, Hagen and Le Mans.

Schoolmaster

Livanos is about to graduate from university but aims for a career in riding. She wants to focus on developing young horses up the levels and has sold Dono di Maggio to French based Indian Hriday Chheda as his new GP schoolmaster.

Chheda was a team gold medallist aboard Ilse van Cranenbroek's Dutch warmblood gelding Emerald (by Ampere x Jazz) at the 2023 Asian Games, which are held at small tour level. Chheda won the Intermediaire I and was a favourite for individual gold at the Games but then got eliminated from the freestyle after the horse knicked his leg and had some blood on it.

Hriday has not shown internationally since the Asian Games in September 2023.
