Horses.nl reported that Heidi Humphries has acquired the 5-year old stallion Orion W as a new young horse for Adrienne Lyle to ride.

Orion W is by Toto Jr out of Chita W (by Vivaldi x Osmium). He is bred by J. van de Weerden.

Orion W

Owned by Dutch horse dealer Ad Valk the bay stallion was presented at the pre-selection for the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing but not selected for the second phase.

He was then presented for licensingwith the smaller NRPS studbook, which named him champion of the licensing. The NRPS studbook changed his birth name Orion W to Topgun.

Valk then re-presented Orion at the saddle presentation for the 2022 KWPN autumn stallion performance test, but the licensing committee sent him back home. Committee member Bert Rutten explained that "we already have many stallions with that bloodline and we missed performance (results) in the dam line).

In 2024 Sem Stiemer competed him with the name Orion W in the Pavo Cup Finals and finished fourth.

U.S.A. Bound

Orion W has been gelded to be focused on sport and will fly to the U.S.A. this weekend.

This is the second horse that Lyle has in her barn connected to the famous Tom Cruise movie. In 2022 she welcomed the Danish bred Hussmann's Topgun  (by Totilas x Belissimo M) which she has developed to Grand Prix level. The now 8-year old is nick-named Maverick.
